About
Cutting his teeth on garage bands, piano strings and chamber orchestras, Oliver Richard now fuses hellish guitar with angelic vocals, fat synths and tripped out percussion to create a one man wall of sound. Having released music since 2013 both independently and with underground labels (Grimtale Records, USA), Oliver has steadily built a loyal following, with work that has drawn comparison to The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, David Byrne and Jeff Buckley among others.
Career highlights include Oliver’s song “Approach Me Like A Lion” chosen by David-Bowie-producer Tony Visconti as the winner of the 2018 Dubreq songwriting competition and being shortlisted for the John Byrne award in 2019. Further, in 2021, Nick Cave stopped a show in Scotland after recognising Oliver in the crowd, lavishly praising him for his cover of the Grinderman song “Star Charmer” – Cave had watched it on YouTube with his wife.
Between 2024-2025 Oliver unleashed four singles in quick succession: “Lightning Dream”, “Hard as a Needle”, “Comatose” and “The Very Devil”. These songs became his most streamed and watched releases to date, and paved the way for his debut full length album “Noise From The Moon” which in turn came out on the 24th October 2025.
